Background

The Hon. P. Lynn Scarlett was the Deputy Secretary of the Interior from 2005 to 2009, having previously served as the Assistant Secretary of Policy, Management and Budget from 2001 to 2005. While at DOI, she chaired the federal Wildland Fire Leadership Council, the Climate Change Task Force, and co-chaired the First Lady's Preserve America Initiative on historic preservation. Before joining the administration, Scarlett was president of the Reason Foundation. She is now global Managing Director of Public Policy at The Nature Conservancy. She is author of numerous publications on science and decision making, conservation, and nature-based infrastructure solutions.
